 Competition Updates 

Valden Cow of the Year
This new award is open to all cows that have completed at least four lactations and are deemed to have, or the potential to, contribute to the breed on a continual basis.

Automatic entry into this competition will take into account the following aspects: Classification, Star Brood status, Superior Production, Production Worth, Protein Breeding Value, Number of lactations, North Island, South Island, Royal and NZ Dairy Event Champion Cows, Daughter performance in production indexes and Daughter-proven sons in AB.

The Valden Cow of the Year will replace the Valden Tophy. Click here for more information.

Superior Production
The Superior Production Award is available for cows whose seasonal production is significantly superior for her age group average or her lifetime production exceeds set limits. This award has been updated and the following qualifications apply for entry:

A. A cow must have compiled five production records (not necessarily consecutively) of 100kg fat or 100kg protein above the breed average for her age, or LW 235 for the five lactations.
B.  A cow must have compiled a lifetime total of at least 2,300kg fat or 1,840kg protein over eight lactations or PW 120/80.
